Wee Wander Quilt for M

I am so excited to finally show off the Wee Wander quilt I made for my 5 year old Madelyn.

I bought a leftover bundle of Wee Wander fabric from an Etsy shop at a discounted price.  It was a really good deal, even though it didn't have all of the prints in the line.  I could not pass it up!
I can still remember the look on my 5 year olds face when I opened the package.  She fell in love and I knew I had to make her something.

I decided to make her a quilt, but it was so hard to pick what pattern to use.  I didn't want to chop up the cute designs of the little children and deer!  I finally had the idea to use Camille Roskelley's Puddle Jumping Pattern and fussy cut the centers.

Now this little girl was very anxious to get her quilt.  Everyday when I would ask her what we were going to do... She would say "Lets make some Wee Wander blocks, Mom!".

Every time I would finish a block she would give me so much positive feedback!  "Mom, thats so perfect!"  "Ohhhhh!  I love it so much!"   "I cant wait to snuggle it, Mom!"

The whole experience was perfect.  And now she has the perfect quilt to take with her through the years.

#SewDailyWithSewShabby June2014

I have to say - I am so impressed with the talent everyone has shared with our fun little campaign Sew Daily With Sew Shabby!  I wanted to take a minutes and show off some of the awesome photos that were shared!

You all kick major quilting bootay!  I love you all!  Keep rocking it!

I haven't been able to sew everyday like I wanted to when I had the idea for this campaign.  The idea I decided isn't necessarily sew everyday, just try to commit some time to yourself.  I shoot for a couple times a week or pick a day and make it my day to do what I like... SEW!

June 2014 Winner

Congrats Raquel Goyen!

Introducing... Sew Daily with Sew Shabby!

Finish your projects, meet new people, and win cool prizes.... sound like fun?

Hey all you quilters and fabric lovers!   If you are anything like me, you wish you had more time to finish those WIP's.  I start so many projects and can't get them done (well in a timely manner).   It's hard when you are so busy being a mom, wife, employee, or taxi driver for teenagers.   It's so easy to get caught up in all the duties of life and feel like I have nothing left for myself.

But it's been important for me to do something for myself DAILY.  Sewing is my favorite “me time”.
So I had an idea, and I have been testing it.   I have been committing to sit down and sew every day.  Even if it's just 5 minutes!

Trim up a few of those HST's.  Start cutting your fabric for the swoon quilt.  (You know you get secretly envious every time you see someone finish theirs).  Load one of your many quilt tops on your machine and finish it!  Bind it!  Wash it!  Then revel in its goodness and how amazing you feel for accomplishing!

I did this for one month.  Some days I only gave it a few minutes and other days I gave it a few hours.  It feels so good!  Maybe you already do this?  Well then join us to help motivate those of us who need it.

I am starting a monthly giveaway for everyone who wants to "Sew Daily with Sew Shabby".   Post pictures on Instagram of what you are working on and tag #sewdailywithsewshabby and @sewshabbyquilting.  Long arming and FMQ pictures count too!  This is open to everyone!   You don't have to do it daily, but you can get 1 entry for every day you post and tag. So If you only do it once, that’s fine! The more you tag the better chances you have of winning!

On the last day every month I will randomly pick a winner from the feed using random.org.  The prizes are going to be so awesome!  So let's have fun, get to know each other, and  motivate each other!

This month’s Sew Daily With Sew Shabby prize is a 40 Fat Eighth Bundle of April Shower's by Bonnie & Camille for Moda.    Good Luck to Everyone!   (If you have any ideas for future prizes - Id love to hear them)

Treasure Map Boy Quilt Kit

I went up to Christensen's Wholesale last week to look around, and I found this super cute Riley Blake Pirate Map Panel!  I was so excited I bought a bolt to make kits.  We are so excited to offer this cute kit in our Etsy shop!

This was perfect because my 3 year old son loves to watch Jake and the Neverland Pirates. I have been looking for pirate fabric for a while now that he could love and snuggle.

I machine quilted it custom with cute designs in different areas.  I really wanted to accentuate the different elements on the panel.

I even quilted my sons name in the pirate ship at the bottom.  *EEK*   It's so cute!

You can find the link Here - Only $28.00 - Finished Size 47X55
The kit does not come with binding or backing.  But I do have 2 bolts of this coordinated "blimey Matey" print available for the backing. If you are purchasing this, you need 3 yds for the kit.  I just used a coordinating red for the binding and it framed it well.

This is also available as a finished quilt - Link Here

Elizabeth's Quilt

Elizabeth is my friend from Simple Simon & Co

She usually just drops off her quilts, and says "I trust you, do what you want".  Which makes me a little nervous.  It really puts the pressure on to be awesome!

I decided to go all out.  Full modern free-style quilting. She hasn't even seen this yet.  I hope she likes it.

Quilting for Maureen

Every time Maureen sends me a new quilt, I am blown away with how talented she is.  And, this Arrow quilt was no exception.

I told her I wanted to do something cool.  She has a  lot of contrasting colors in this, and I wanted the quilt to stay true to her designs. Really make the arrows and dark colors pop.

So I changed the thread color a few times and did different quilting in every area.  It took me forever!  But I would say it was worth it.

I really want to make one now!  Maureen is such an inspiration and I love all of her work.
